We went to the Oncology clinic yesterday for Caleb to take his chemo. It took a couple of hours for the drugs to come up from the pharmacy, but once they were there it took about 2 minutes to administer it! Also, they showed us some ways to reduce the pain of the injections, and we tried it out while there and it worked just fine – much less painful and shorter in duration. Caleb is fine with this technique. It is still a little painful, but not nearly as bad as what we had experienced the night before. I felt like the worst dad in the world. Dads are supposed to protect their children; not hurt them. Thankfully, that issue should be resolved now.
They also informed us that his regimen this week is reduced and we don’t have to go back until next Wednesday! We’ll be back in the hospital for the next treatment which will last five days, but the way the schedule is looking for November, they are hoping he will be home for Thanksgiving Day. If his counts stay at a level where he can stay on schedule, it will happen. So far his numbers have been looking good.
Another thing we talked about with the oncology department was Caleb’s dog. Caleb has been heartbroken not being able to hold and pet JJ. He loves that dog. They said as long as his counts are good and JJ is up to date on his shots and clean, Caleb can hold him. He was so excited about that and we were, too, because we know how much it means to him. So I am taking JJ to get his latest shots in the morning.
Holly went back to work today, so please keep her in your prayers. I really wish that she could stay here with Caleb and let me go work, but with our insurance through the school system, that is just really impossible for us. I know its tough for her not being here every waking moment with her baby.
We are continuing to forge ahead in spiritual warfare against this disease. Jesus said in Luke 10:19 that WE have the authority to trample the works of the enemy. So we are taking hold of that promise and continuing to attack with our prayers, our worship, and the Word of God. With all of our friends and family that are joining in, what a powerful force we are! Our God is healer, awesome in power!
Today’s scripture from the mouth of Jesus – “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19
