Today is Caleb’s birthday! He turned 12 years old. The years really go by fast. Everyone warns you about it, but it is definitely a reality. I am so proud of Caleb. He has demonstrated unbelievable strength, faith, and patience during this whole ordeal.
We had to go to clinic today to get his counts. Unfortunately, he also had to take a unit of blood because his platelets were low from all the chemo last week. We were there about 4 hours and got ready to leave and my truck would not start. Something is wrong with the starter or solenoid. I hit it with a large metal object and it fired right up. But that is a sign that something needs to be repaired. At least we didn’t have to sit there all day waiting on Holly to come get us! We got home and Holly made Caleb a strawberry cake. He was so excited and we had a great time with just the four of us celebrating. We have family time with parents and in-laws over the next couple of days and I know he is excited about it. Overall, his day was good.
Next week we have two days of chemo in clinic. We are marking off the days on the calendar and getting more and more treatments behind us. Holly and I spent a lot of time talking today and praying about what to do about the boys’ schooling situation next year. I really want (and need!) to get back to work as soon as possible and don’t want to be tied down with schooling the boys all year when the chemo will hopefully be over in September sometime. We’ll see. We’re still praying about what to do and obviously what is best for the boys is our priority and we’ll do what we have to, but we appreciate all of you praying with us about it. Thanks for caring!
Today’s verse – “For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.” Hebrews 6:10 NLT
