It’s a New Year and a New Me

This has been a hectic, exciting few days for the Murray family. Last Tuesday, both Caleb and I were admitted into the hospital. Caleb had a 5-day regimen of chemo and I was having a gastric bypass done. We had everything planned out with my mom helping out, but circumstances changed all that. Our 18 year old cousin I mentioned in the last post went home to be with Jesus on Christmas morning. Please remember the Buelvas family during the days and weeks ahead. Raul’s obituary is here. The funeral was that Tuesday morning, so Mom had to go to Savannah. But we managed to get it all done. That can be done when you are married to Superwife!

Caleb had very little nausea during his stay this time! He has only been nauseous a couple of times since coming home yesterday, too, which is very unusual. We have been claiming the same healing verses for him regarding the side effects to chemotherapy that we did in relation to the cancer. God can take care of those, too, and he certainly has! Holly stayed there all five nights with him and she was just utterly exhausted. Thankfully we had some family and a couple of friends that pitched in and helped make it as easy as possible on her. I am so thankful for that (and thanks Angela for making Holly a birthday cake and bringing supper!! We love you guys!).

My surgery went very well. Today is the first day I have not been in a lot of pain – mostly just soreness – so I am thankful for that. I have been on a liquid diet for three weeks now and have three more to go. I have already lost a good bit of weight; I’ll find out exactly how much tomorrow at the followup since I left my scales in Avera.

I know there has been a lot said about what 2012 holds. I really don’t care what the Mayan calendar says, I’m still living everyday as if Jesus were coming back today. I am excited about 2012! I am excited about getting my life back in more ways than one, and being rid of the chemo and hospital stays once and for all later this year. Thanks for all of your love, support, and blessings. We still have a long way to go, so we appreciate you guys standing right there with us the whole way!

Today’s verses – Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.  -Philippians 3:12-14
