We had our first follow-up with Caleb’s oncologist today. She said she was very excited about the results of the surgery and the biopsy on what they found there. As I had mentioned before, they found some abnormal marrow as they cut the bone out and kept cutting lower trying to get below it. It looks like (and we will get the “official” word once another set of eyes double-checks the findings) what they were seeing as abnormal was just dead tumor cells where God was whipping up on some cancer! So based on that, Caleb will NOT be getting any radiation!
She also told us that as bad as we wanted to stop, she does as well, but we do have to finish out the chemo treatment plan. That means we have 22 more weeks of chemo. Based on how Caleb has responded in the past, we should be finishing up sometime around the middle to end of October. That is still a long ways off, but at least we have an idea of what we are looking at. We just have to survive until then and then we can get back to life as usual.
Tomorrow we meet with the surgeon for the follow-up with him. Caleb’s incision looks great and we are hoping that he clears Caleb to be able to do some fun stuff again. I drove his four wheeler to town today to fill it and all the gas cans up so we are ready ride as soon as soon he gets the OK.
Now that cancer is no longer here, we still have several hospital stays and many more days of driving in to get chemo, so we still need your prayers and support. Please continue to stand with us in prayer and stand against the side effects of chemo. We would love nothing more than to be able to knock this out in 22 weeks flat with no having to wait on counts to come up. Let’s pray that they stay up. Also, please keep us in prayers for provision. We will still be mostly a one-income family until this fall, and God has been on time every step of the way and we believe He is our source! It is awesome to watch Him at work. Thanks so much for all of the kind words of encouragement and meals and blessings along the way. I don’t know where we would be without our friends and church family! I certainly don’t know how people without it can make it through something like having your world turned upside down.
Today’s verses – Psalm 23 (NLT): The LORD is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.
Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the LORD
forever.
Praise the Lord! His promises remain YES and AMEN!!!!! Go Caleb!
Such wonderful news! Thankyou Jesus!
